Korea Investors Service, Korea's first credit rating agency, introduced credit ratings services to local commercial paper markets in 1985 and bond markets in 1986. KIS's local currency ratings are assigned to corporates, financial institutions, public companies, financial guarantors, as well as asset-backed securities. Since becoming an affiliate of Moody's in 2001, KIS has transformed itself into a credit rating agency with global competitiveness.
