Moody's Credit Market Research Fund (CMRF)
Moody's Credit Market Research Fund was established to promote the study of capital markets and credit related topics within the academic community.

The philosophy of the fund is to provide resources to distinguished researchers engaged in innovative research projects of general interest to the academic and professional finance communities.

Moody's CMRF provides monetary grants to researchers at universities and other academic organizations in the form of stipends and other assistance for specific research projects. Topics of interest to the committee include research on:

  • Credit risk and analysis
  • Default risk asset valuation
  • Capital and credit markets
  • Market microstructure derivatives (especially credit derivatives)
  • Regulatory practices
  • Econometric and statistical methods for credit analytics
  • Portfolio theory performance attribution
  • Microfinance institution risk


Eligibility
Researchers at accredited universities world-wide who are conducting research of interest to the academic and professional finance communities are eligible to apply for a grant.


Restrictions
Moody's CMRF does not fund:

  • Applicants that do not meet requirements of "Moody's Grant Application and Agreement" or do not submit a complete proposal as specified below
  • Non-accredited academic institutions
  • Individuals
  • Sponsorships or advertising

PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS
Proposals must include the following:

  • University affiliation and other professional credentials
  • Contact information including phone number and e-mail address
  • Credentials of any graduate assistants (if appropriate)
  • Topic and title of research with brief summary of the topic in general
  • In-depth description of methodology
  • Budget and timeline
  • Amount of funding requested from Moody's
  • Specific uses of funding (equipment, staff, data, travel, etc.)
  • Contact information for individual responsible for receiving funds at university (if approved)

 

Proposals should be no more than five pages, including references. Please include professor's name and title of research project in all correspondence and on each page of the proposal including supporting documents.

Grant Application must include signed "Application and Grant Agreement" form in order to be considered for funding. This form must be executed by the sponsoring university's Development or Research Department, or other authorized department.
