A Letter From Raymond W. McDaniel, Jr., President and CEO

Giving back to our communities is important to our company. We do this through The Moody’s Foundation with our employees, who have more ways than ever to engage with their local communities, and our dollars.

Every year as we prepare this report, we pause and reflect on our accomplishments and ask ourselves how we can do better. We are proud that in 2015, as Moody’s continued to expand in many ways, our commitment to social responsibility and good corporate citizenship remained as strong as ever.

Our business grew, both organically and through the acquisition of Equilibrium, a leading provider of credit rating and research services in Latin America, and the residential mortgage backed securities data and analytics assets of BlackBox Logic. Our global footprint expanded as well, raising our headcount to approximately 10,400 and increasing our country presence to 35 at the close of 2015.

We evolved as an organization in other meaningful ways as well. For instance, we have positioned Moody’s to support continued business growth with Project THRIVE, a multi-year, transformational human resources initiative. As part of this initiative, in late 2015 we launched WorkWise, a new technology platform that streamlines HR processes and improves productivity.

Giving back to our communities is important to our company. We do this through The Moody’s Foundation with our employees, who have more ways than ever to engage with their local communities, and our dollars. In 2015 we rolled out Moody’s Extra Measure, a program which gives employees additional volunteer opportunities and the chance to interact with colleagues outside their lines of business. More than 500 employees from across the company took part in 65 Extra Measure projects last year.

In 2015, The Moody’s Foundation also funded a number of new programs across the globe. We expanded our commitment to supporting math education by partnering with Girls Inc. of New York to teach young women about the power of data analytics via the Moody’s Generation Giga Girls project, while our grant to Vocação in Brazil enabled the creation of The Moody’s Numeracy Project. This latter project aims to improve the methodology used to teach youth the mathematical skills necessary for a productive life.

This report details these and other efforts and highlights the importance we place on being a socially responsible company. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Moody’s.
