ASIA PACIFIC WEEKLY
April 26 - May 3, 2017

This week we take a look at our rated Chinese property developers, which we expect will report in 2017 their strongest credit metrics in three years as growth in contracted sales and revenues will outpace the rise in debt for the first time since 2015. Our webcasts next Monday in English and Putonghua will discuss trends for the developers in more detail.

We also published a comment on the rising tension between the North Korean regime and the new US administration, a development which is broadening the nature of geopolitical risk for South Korea and represents the most salient event risk for the sovereign.

And in Japan, we view planned changes to the legal framework governing the water utilities system to promote the use of public-private partnerships and private finance initiatives in 2017 as credit positive for the country’s regional and local governments.

The latest editions of our Asia TMT Quarterly and Structured Thinking: Asia Pacific newsletters have also just been released, covering key trends in this region.

Finally, we have a webcast coming up next week on increasing carbon transition risk for the oil and gas industry, with registration available here.
