Moody's Investors Service
ASIA PACIFIC WEEKLY
September 6 - 13, 2017

This week we report on the full and half-year results of Australian and New Zealand corporates, with mostly credit positive or neutral implications. We will also host a webcast on this topic tomorrow.

In China, we report on the sizeable bond maturities facing property developers in 2018. We believe most rated developers have the capacity to manage these payments, even in a hypothetical stress scenario in which all bonds are put by investors and companies are unable to refinance them.

We also report on China’s renewable energy sector, and our teleconference this afternoon will look at the global renewable sector in more detail.

Finally, our Asian Liquidity Stress Index decreased to 26.8% in August from 28.5% in July. Although an improvement, the reading remained above the long-term average of 23.0%, highlighting that weak liquidity is still a concern for many companies in Asia.

In terms of events, we will hold a briefing in Mumbai next week on key credit considerations for Indian corporates. Further ahead, our APAC Insurance Summit will take place next month in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Beijing. More information is available on the conference website.

Government of Korea: Extent of negative credit impact of military escalation would depend on containment of conflict
[7 Sep] Any military conflict on the Korean peninsula would damage the South Korean economy, the functioning of its government and its finances, and its payments system, while the severity of the credit impact would depend on the length and intensity of hostilities.

[6 Sep] Growth in China's renewable energy sector will continue, driven by the ambitious 13th Five Year Plan targets set by the government and its commitment to the Paris Agreement.

Property - China: Most rated developers have capacity to manage higher bond refinancing risk in 2018
[6 Sep] This capacity is support by the developers' levels of cash holdings and continuing cash generation from property sales, as well as our expectation that they will maintain access to bank loans and therefore be able to refinance their 2018 bank loan maturities.
