ASIA PACIFIC WEEKLY
13-20 Sep

This week we published a report on the improved growth prospects for Asia Pacific sovereigns, underpinned by sound global demand. While this development has buoyed in particular the region’s trade-reliant economies, faster export growth has yet to feed into a broader and more sustainable acceleration of output growth. A replay of our webcast on this same topic is available here.

We also published a report on monetary policy normalization in the US, euro area and Japan, noting that the Bank of Japan will likely only exit its accommodative monetary policy once the inflation rate systematically moves close to the central banks 2% target. The bank’s Policy Board does not currently forecast this to happen until 2019.

In China, we report on the progress made under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which we expect will benefit its own economy and corporates, but also pose challenges in how risk will be allocated between participating Chinese entities and the sovereign. We will also hold a webcast tomorrow on this same topic in English, or you can listen to a replay of the webcast in Putonghua here.

Also on the events front, we will host a webcast on our first-time rating for Yihua Enterprise (Group) Co., Ltd on Friday. And in case you missed it, you can still listen to a replay of our webcast on the first-time ratings assigned to Postal Savings Bank of China Co., Ltd in either English or Putonghua.
