Moody's Investors Service
ASIA PACIFIC WEEKLY
Feb 15 - 22, 2017

This week, we take a closer look at the ability of our rated high-yield non-financial companies in China to withstand a hypothetical 10% depreciation of the renminbi to RMB7.7 against the US dollar, and find that 52 out of 59 companies have in place adequate cushions or mitigants.

Singapore’s thee largest banks have released their full-year and Q4 2016 results, which revealed a further decline in profitability and mixed asset quality. However, we expect pressure on credit costs and net interest margins to subside in 2017, providing support to profitability.

Last week, we also placed on review for downgrade Mongolia’s sovereign rating, following two downgrades over the past year. We have since placed the ratings of Development Bank of Mongolia and those of seven Mongolian banks on review for downgrade.

On the events front, our 2017 Australian Credit Conference – 8 March in Melbourne and 10 March in Sydney – is just two weeks away. And a replay of the webcast on our first-time rating for Chinese property developer Xinhu Zhongbao is available here.

A complete overview of our publications of the past week, along with upcoming events, is available below.
