ASIA PACIFIC WEEKLY
19 - 26 Oct 2016

In this week’s Asia Pacific Weekly, we take a close look at China’s leasing industry through two reports: one that provides an introduction and overview of the sector, and another that presents our outlook for the sector over the next 12-18 months.

Staying on China, we also have scheduled two briefings on the outlook for the country’s non-financial corporates -- in Singapore on 2 November and in Hong Kong on 16 November.

Yesterday, we released our study of default and recovery rates among Asia-Pacific corporate issuers (ex-Japan). We found that the metals & mining and constructing & building sectors have been the main drivers of corporate defaults in the region over the past two and a half years, with the commodity sectors at greater risk than others.

And our quarterly latest update on global green bonds issuance highlights the robust offerings originating from Chinese financial institutions in particular. The market’s continuing growth – with Q3 issuance at a record high – reinforces efforts to acknowledge and address climate change, highlighted by the Paris Agreement going into force in November.

Elsewhere, we published a report on Japanese pharmaceutical companies, and will hold a webcast on the broader Asian pharmaceutical sector tomorrow.

Following our rating actions on a large number of Chinese state-owned enterprises last week, we have published two separate reports on the drivers behind these actions on regional and local government-related issuers and central government-related issuers. You can also listen to a replay of our webcast on the ratings actions here.

Finally, the FinanceAsia Fixed Income Poll 2016 is now live until 9 November. You can vote for Moody’s by completing the survey here. As always, we thank you for your support.
